The Future of Slavery
OR
How To Profit From the Dark Side!
As you read this edition of The Truth About Money: How Money Works, I am going to be taking a round about way to explore the coming-soon future economy. Along the way I am going to give you the compelling reasons why this will have to be...why slavery is the ONLY solution facing our troubled world economy.
And this reboot of slavery is going to be the Full Monty of slave market, slave breeding, and the use of physical and emotional punishment to create passive slave stock, or "inventory."
In my usual style I am including several random, seemingly off-topic links and clues, designed to enrich your experience and add a bit of clutter and distraction. I will return each time with some vigour to the subject at hand: Real, hard-core slavery for the future.
So hang in, and keep reading, scrolling through the stuff that seems too random, and you'll get the juicy goodness that is content-specific. You can be prepared for what is to come, and come soon!
I will even make some time-line predictions!
Beginning this blog post in a fairly light hearted tone, I began to use Google to see what-was-what in the world as it relates to the simple one word search: Slavery.

As it turns out in the right-here, right-now, this number is NOT accurate.
In China alone, there are 40 million people in forced labour camps.
The residents of these slave cities became slaves by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Somehow, each one of them, got on the wrong side of somebody with the power to put them in the slave system.
In China, it is enough to be called a trouble-maker by someone in authority, even if you have done nothing wrong in any legal sense of the term. The fear factor created by the prospect of being enslaved is a valuable commodity in a nation ruled by fear.
So what happens? Even the kids of someone who is sent away to the slave cities ends up being sent along, too. Yummy fun, eh?
Okay, that is a brief China visit. Now, let's throw North Korea into the slave countdown. How many people in North Korea are sent away to the slave camps?

So, how many people on Planet Earth
are defacto slaves, right now?
After getting into some current reality, I learned that some estimates place the current, right-now number, at 27 million slaves. Some estimates are a possible 38 million. As it turns out in the right-here, right-now, this number is NOT accurate.
The number is much, much higher.

At least 150,000 North Koreans are 'trapped forever in giant forced labour camp' (which the country refuses to admit exists)
- U.S. alleges the camp holds political dissidents of 'political repression'
- Documents cases of infanticide and forced abortions
- 'Whole families kept in camp' due to 'crimes' by relatives
- North Korea denies existence of camp - but it is visible on Google Earth

HELLO, ME AGAIN!
THAT WAS CHEERFUL, WASN'T IT?
First up is a site I went to. Very intriguing and obvious statements. I recommend you give this website a visit and take your time while you are there:
Here is a bit of their site:
There are at least 27 million slaves worldwide. That’s roughly the combined population of Australia and New Zealand. Crikey!
And here is a bit of the blog that is on the website:
While we typically think about chocolate being synonymous with Valentine’s Day, far more of the treat is actually sold in the week leading up to Easter. Consumers will buy nearly 71 million pounds of chocolate to fill their Easter baskets, but what many of them don’t know is that this irresistible treat has global consequences.
Chocolate’s Origins
The majority of the world’s cocoa beans are grown in West Africa, particularly in the countries of Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, and Cote d’Ivore. In Cote d’Ivore alone, an estimated 200,000 children are working to harvest 70% of the world’s cocoa beans. They are subject to hazardous conditions and perform tasks such as using machetes and applying pesticides and insecticides without the appropriate protective equipment. While in some cultures it’s normal for children to help out on their family’s farm, the kids harvesting cocoa typically aren’t related or even local, but have been trafficked in from neighboring countries. They are trapped in modern slavery, forced to work without pay and unable to walk away.
Just last year, the CNN Freedom Project traveled to the Ivory Coast to see for themselves the children working in the cocoa fields. At the end of the trip, they reflected upon the “horrible normal” these children were experiencing:
The children we spoke to in the Ivory Coast weren’t upset. They weren’t chained or locked up.The good news is, there are a number of ways we can take a stand.
These children know nothing else. They don’t know what freedom is – can’t even imagine it. They are resigned to their fate because, to them, this is just how it is here.
Slavery in the cocoa fields of Ivory Coast is normal. It’s routine. And it’s easy to find.
Use your purchasing power: One of the easiest ways for you to take action is to use your power as a consumer. Did you know candy companies rely on impulse buys for nearly 90% of their sales? Avoid this urge and be more deliberate in your choices, opting instead for Fair Trade or ethically made chocolate. By doing this, you’re showing support for the companies that share your same values. Fair trade options are becoming increasingly common and even include some insanely delicious flavors that the regular brands don’t offer (You have got to try Theo’s Cherry & Chili Bar!). So the next time you’re in the grocery store, vote with your dollar and show some love to the companies that don’t rely on the use of forced labor.
Get other companies on board: If we want long-term, sustainable change, we can’t rely solely on boutique fair-trade brands; we need to get the major companies on board. Log into the Slavery Footprint Action Center or use the Free World app to ask them to investigate their supply chains. Tell them that you care about the people that make their products and that they should too. If we can create the demand, they’ll provide the supply. It’s just good business.
Spread the word: While you and I know slavery exists, it still comes as a surprise to others. Use the upcoming Easter holiday to start a conversation with your friends and family. Fill their baskets with some Fair-Trade goodies and share the story of where it came from. Passion is contagious so the more you show you care about this issue, the more it’ll catch on.
What’s one of your favorite ethically made treats? Do you have a favorite candy that you wish you could enjoy more, knowing it wasn’t made by forced labor? We‘d love to hear your thoughts!

Hello! It is Me Again!
I thought it might be fun to do a typical "historical survey" of the recent slave trade, and twist it up a bit with some little known actual-factual FACTS.
Please note the following comes from the most excellent website:
The Irish slave trade began when James II sold 30,000 Irish prisoners as
slaves to the New World. His Proclamation of 1625 required Irish
political prisoners be sent overseas and sold to English settlers in the
West Indies. By the mid 1600s, the Irish were the main slaves sold to
Antigua and Montserrat. At that time, 70% of the total population of
Montserrat were Irish slaves.
Ireland quickly became the biggest source of human livestock for English
merchants. The majority of the early slaves to the New World were
actually white.
From 1641 to 1652, over 500,000 Irish were killed by the English and
another 300,000 were sold as slaves. Ireland’s population fell from
about 1,500,000 to 600,000 in one single decade. Families were ripped
apart as the British did not allow Irish dads to take their wives and
children with them across the Atlantic. This led to a helpless
population of homeless women and children. Britain’s solution was to
auction them off as well.
During the 1650s, over 100,000 Irish children between the ages of 10 and
14 were taken from their parents and sold as slaves in the West Indies,
Virginia and New England. In this decade, 52,000 Irish (mostly women
and children) were sold to Barbados and Virginia. Another 30,000 Irish
men and women were also transported and sold to the highest bidder. In
1656, Cromwell ordered that 2000 Irish children be taken to Jamaica and
sold as slaves to English settlers.
Many people today will avoid calling the Irish slaves what they truly were: Slaves. They’ll come up with terms like “Indentured Servants” to describe what occurred to the Irish. However, in most cases from the 17th and 18th centuries, Irish slaves were nothing more than human cattle.
As an example, the African slave trade was just beginning during this same period. It is well recorded that African slaves, not tainted with the stain of the hated Catholic theology and more expensive to
African slaves were very expensive during the late 1600s (50 Sterling). Irish slaves came cheap (no more than 5 Sterling). If a planter whipped or branded or beat an Irish slave to death, it was never a crime. A death was a monetary setback, but far cheaper than killing a more expensive African. The English masters quickly began breeding the Irish women for both their own personal pleasure and for greater profit. Children of slaves were themselves slaves, which increased the size of the master’s free workforce. Even if an Irish woman somehow obtained her freedom, her kids would remain slaves of her master. Thus, Irish moms, even with this new found emancipation, would seldom abandon their kids and would remain in servitude.
In time, the English thought of a better way to use these women (in many cases, girls as young as 12) to increase their market share: The settlers began to breed Irish women and girls with African men to produce slaves with a distinct complexion. These new “mulatto” slaves brought a higher price than Irish livestock and, likewise, enabled the settlers to save money rather than purchase new African slaves. This practice of interbreeding Irish females with African men went on for several decades and was so widespread that, in 1681, legislation was passed “forbidding the practice of mating Irish slave women to African slave men for the purpose of producing slaves for sale.” In short, it was stopped only because it interfered with the profits of a large slave transport company.
England continued to ship tens of thousands of Irish slaves for more than a century. Records state that, after the 1798 Irish Rebellion, thousands of Irish slaves were sold to both America and Australia. There were horrible abuses of both African and Irish captives. One British ship even dumped 1,302 slaves into the Atlantic Ocean so that the crew would have plenty of food to eat.
There is little question that the Irish experienced the horrors of slavery as much (if not more in the 17th Century) as the Africans did. There is, also, very little question that those brown, tanned faces you witness in your travels to the West Indies are very likely a combination of African and Irish ancestry. In 1839, Britain finally decided on it’s own to end it’s participation in Satan’s highway to hell and stopped transporting slaves. While their decision did not stop pirates from doing what they desired, the new law slowly concluded THIS chapter of nightmarish Irish misery.
But, if anyone, black or white, believes that slavery was only an African experience, then they’ve got it completely wrong.

ME, AGAIN...
I am putting up some Youtube videos for you to watch. They are not too long. And it gives a bit of perspective to this HUGE ongoing part of our world-wide economy. I will intersperse the videos with other bits and pieces.
In my particular case, I became really, really upset when I started to learn about sex-slaves...that they existed, and this was years ago that I became aware. Well, it set me off on a journey to find something, anything, that I could do about this...sickness. Along the way, I met a few people who had actually been involved in buying sex slaves from brothels in India, and then getting the ex-sex-slaves to safe places where they could get SOME sort of recovery, and also some practical help with learning some skills they could use to earn a living.
Ironically, the brothel owners made a good living out of selling the slaves to the wanna-bee do gooders. The brothel owners created a nice little profit stream for themselves, knowing full-well that the do-gooders wanted somebody to rescue, anybody to rescue, AND SO the brothel owners sell the used-up sex-stock. So the human beings who have been sex-slaves and reached that point where they are no longer really all that viable as sex-slaves, and therefore not worth keeping around, instead of just killing them off and selling them for organ transplants, they sell the old stock to the go-gooders.
The do-gooders know they are being played by the brothel owners.
Obviously the used up sex slaves are sick and broken. Usually infected with untreated sexually transmitted disease(s).
The do-gooders do what they can.
This is where I came into the picture. Knowing full well that the solution was NOT manifesting the way I wanted: That the new sex slave was being sold to the brothel owners by the agents who went out into the poor, rural areas, and bargained for the soon-to-be sex-slaves with parents who had plenty of kids, but not enough money to keep everyone going...so what's one kid less, and enough cash money to finally get that colour television you've been wanting for so long? With so many kids, and more on the way, it is easy enough to take the easy money, and then kinda-sorta forget that kid...maybe you cry...for a little while...maybe you don't. Just depends, doesn't it?
Yeah, it is that real.
Anyway, I was looking for somebody, somewhere, who was doing something about this...sickness.
And the best candidate for my meagre funds: OXFAM!
So I started donating to OXFAM!
You can too:
It just makes my head explode when I start to think about it.
I have found some answers, too.
After I put my exploded head back together.
There is a way to help.
I don't know about you, but when I started to hear the screams of the sex-slaves, yes, hear their screams, at night, as I was falling asleep, I KNEW it was time I did something, anything.
Seriously, I do have something you can do, right now, to help change this bleeping sickness.
Go to: http://www.thegodconsciousnessproject.com
At this website you will get some further links to start on the most fundamental level to change the very source of the bleeped up awareness that supports this disease and discomfort.
For those of you who want additional, right-now action, I seriously recommend you drop some cash on http://www.oxfam.org/ .

Okay, so how is this all leading to the future, global, hard-core revamping of a legal and fertile actual-factual SLAVE TRADE?
Over 40,000 prisoners are currently in Michigan state correctional
facilities. Michigan is just one state of 50, and has less than 4% of
the U.S. population.
Although black people make up only 13% of Michigan's population, they make up an astounding 58% of all state prison inmates. That means that in Michigan a black person is over 8 times more likely to end up in prison than a person who is not black.
Under existing law, prison officials can control virtually every aspect of a prisoner's life. They can decide he or she will not have sex, even without any law providing for that. They can decide when he will get up, and when he will go to bed. They can decide how much money will be spent on his food, and how it will be spent. They can set rules for prisoners, and punish prisoners in many ways, including depriving them of all food but "nutri-loaf," or tasteless, ground-up leftovers pressed into a loaf. They can decide who gets to visit a prisoner, and for how long. They can force a prisoner to sleep on a metal grating without a mattress. They can decide how long a prisoner must wait before he gets medical treatment. They can decide that the prisoner will spend 24 hours a day in his cell, or 12 hours a day doing backbreaking labor. It is up to them.
In many states there is a move to privatization of jails and prisons. Instead of being run by the Government, they will be run by private corporations for profit.
The labor of the prisoner belongs to the State, but when the State transfers their interest to a private corporation, the labor of the prisoner belongs to the corporation. A corporation will run the lives of prisoners, and decide how they shall labor and what they shall labor at. See any chance for profit here?
Under the Thirteenth Amendment to the US Constitution, slavery is not illegal. Slavery is illegal unless it is for conviction for a crime. In that case, slavery is perfectly legal.
The actual text of the Thirteenth Amendment (with some emphasis added) is as follows:
Two hundred years ago, slavemasters justified their acts of enslavement by blowing all out of proportion some minor flaws of those being enslaved. Because the black slaves had difficulty with a foreign language (English), and did not have a good education, and did not understand the slavemasters' way of doing things, they were called stupid. Because their sexual practices and manner of dressing were not those of the slavemasters, they were called immoral. Because they objected to being slaves, they were called troublemakers. All of their differences were said to make them inferior. All this was said to justify their enslavement. Today, slavemasters again justify their acts of enslavement by blowing all out of proportion some minor flaws of those being enslaved. Today, it is drug use. To a rational person, taking drugs is no worse a moral flaw than drinking alcohol, orovereating , or watching too much tv. Taking drugs is no worse than what our President, Vice President, Speaker of the House and Supreme Court Justices
have done. To a rational person, selling drugs is no worse a moral
flaw than working as a clerk in a liquor store, or owning stock in a
corporation like Kroger's or Safeway that sells butter to fat people.
The drug user is said to be "immoral," and a "troublemaker," and this is
said to justify his or her enslavement.
Drug laws make is possible to sweep up hundreds of thousands of young men and women in the prime of their lives, and confine them for life to being the slaves of some profit-making corporations. Like a war party raiding a small African village 400 years ago, the present day war parties of police go into our cities and suburbs and round up healthy young men and proud young women and send them off to where their labor can be owned by someone else for the rest of their lives.

AGAIN, IT IS ME...
...I know that it might seem IF you have broken the law, you get everything you deserve, but what happens is that these legal solutions to enslavement are very attractive to keep going, and to improve upon, too.
It becomes easier and easier to justify increasing the scope of such enterprises. And the institution of slavery is hard to break once it is rolling. Once there is momentum, and the economy of slavery is paying for itself, it is EXTREMELY seductive. Cheap labour and little to no social responsibility, including very few to no ongoing medical, dental, mental health care benefits, and you have a self-perpetuating dark-side, pushy new economy.
Prison based slave trade has been with us FOREVER. The modern version is particularly ugly and horrid. For one thing it is wrapped up in lies and deception. Most of this stuff is cozily hidden from Main Street And with a hungry need for people-power, the legal system is working hard to keep a steady flow of new and returning slaves arriving to the slave plantations, er, prisons.

Slavery Today And In The Future In The United States
Slave Labor Easy Source For Corporate And Government Profit
Disturbing Implications For Racial Minorities
Although a large number of white people are enslaved, blacks are rounded
up at over 8 times the rate for whites, making this to some degree
racially based slavery.
As reported by Mark Langford of UPI, Texas is a leader in the enslavement industry. Union leaders like Joe Gunn of the Texas AFL-CIO are upset that his union members have to compete with slave labor, which brings down the wages of all workers. And, the State Government loves every minute of it, because they get a cut of the profits. A large number of prisoners, normally a drain on the state treasury, turns into a financial asset. As prisoners become sources of profit for the State, we can guarantee one thing: there will be more of them.
Although many prisoners have trouble finding jobs in the real world, they make ideal employees in the prison setting. After all, they can't exactly talk back, or go on strike, or hope for promotion. Once trained, they cannot leave to go to another employer. You can strip search them after work to ensure no employee theft. Most importantly, with prisoners doing the work, "absenteeism is very low," says William Meehan, president of U.S. Technologies. Slave laborers working for him make electronic parts that go to such companies as IBM and Motorola. Meehan closed a plant in Austin, Texas and laid off the workers so he could hire prisoners.
With slave industry legal, not only the prisoners suffer; all working people suffer from depressed employment and depressed wages. However, since profits are up, folks like Meehan are making out as well as the folks who ran the agricultural slavery that prevailed in Texas before 1865. So, we have come full circle in only 130 years. Is it any wonder that top industrialists back any plan that will keep the prisons full?
The major corporations that own the major media outlets have launched an all-out attack on tobacco companies, aided by greed of governments nationwide to have more money to carry out their pet projects. Because the tobacco companies are corporations, this attack at first glance looks like it is not a plan of corporate America. But look at the realities. Who owns the networks? Who owns the major newspapers? Who has the most influence in Congress?
It may just be a concidence, but the fact is that if tobacco is
outlawed, hundreds of thousands of tobacco criminals will be subtracted
from the regular labor force and added to the slave labor force, and the
American work force will be divided and demoralized by having to
compete with slaves. Aren't those things that would benefit the
interests of corporations?
It is undisputed that using tobacco is not good for one's health, but isn't it also true that being in prison is not good for one's health? The breakup of families by incarceration of the parents will not be good for the health of parent or child. The impoverishment of families by imposing fines and forfeitures and taxes to pay for it all will also not be good for their health. The cutting off of access to higher education, and the disabling employment effects of a criminal record will not be good for the health of young men and women, and their descendants for who knows how many generations. And then there are the health effects of violent police raids, wars among tobacco-supplying criminal gangs, murder of snitches, etc., etc. These health effects are never factored into the equations of drug and tobacco policy makers.
As with drug prohibition, with tobacco prohibition we will certainly see a general increase in the level of violence in our communities, and in return get at best a modest decrease in use of the banned commodity.
The increase in prisoners will certainly have disturbing implications for the minority communities from which the majority of prisoners will come.
Regardless of the intentions of individual pro-Prohibition activists, tobacco crime will result in expanding opportunities for corporate profit and political control through expanding prison populations, just as drug crime is doing today.
What has changed over the last 400 years? Not much. Only the improved cleverness of the slavemasters in latching on to ingenious rationales to cloak their crimes.

ABOUT REAL-DEAL SLAVERY IN THE HERE AND NOW:
I think when you visit this Facebook page, you will quickly come to see that there are opinions that resort to recycling the old hatreds toward taxation, big government, the so-called "liberal" way. Since there is no way to prevent the ongoing investment in legal slavery, and the arrival in the near-future of the slave market...the hard-core, old-school, legal, thriving slave market, revamped, improved, and VERY profitable...slave deal; I want you to be informed before it really is embraced by the forces of the market place.
We already have LEGAL slave trading going on. There are various forms of this hideous reboot...and it never really went away, ever. What with prison forced labour camps, and war-time versions of said-same, and what is going on in China, right now, let alone in the prisons of America...we have the indentured servant AKA slave trade going on, right now, in our wonderful, modern, and oh-so politically correct western world.

HELLO! HAPPY GUY HERE!
So, it goes on, doesn't it? It has gone on, and in very recent times. You can find out about all kinds of versions of the same basic thing: trading in people, slave trade...and what really and truly defines slavery?
You are a prisoner. IF you escape, you will be tracked until recaptured. You are chattel and property, without rights. IF I am your owner, I can do what I want with you: Beat you, torture you, starve you, kill you...whatever, whenever.
Some of what is passing as slavery right now is NOT quite so blatant and horrible. It is close. And some of what is real-deal right-now slavery is fully up to speed, old-school slavery.
Let's take a little look at the bursting New China of today:

Exposé on Masanjia Labor Camp Breaks Censorship Rules
Electric batons. Force-feeding. Slave labor. These are accounts
published in China-based Lens Magazine of what happened inside China's
most notorious women's labor camp: Masanjia. Overseas media, including
NTD, have reported on Masanjia for years. But this is the first time a
media inside mainland China has dared to publish an exposé like this.
And that's lent credibility to the gruesome accounts of torture—that have shocked even seasoned scholars.
[Ma Yong, Researcher, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences]
"I was shocked after reading it. I couldn't imagine this happening.
In the 21st century, something like this could happen. I'm not sure why
the information was allowed to be published. It's been spread online
and hasn't been taken down."
The article is called "Walking Out of Masanjia." It's based on a
detailed handwritten diary by former inmate Liu Hua. Another inmate
smuggled it out for her in September 2011—though it's unclear what's
happened now to Liu Hua herself.
According to the article, Masanjia inmates are forced to work up to
14 hours a day, making cotton pants and other clothing. They can have
only three bathroom breaks a day. They're punished just for complaining.
Some are forced to stay in tiny rooms with no ventilation for several
days at a time. Others are shocked with electric batons, or forced to
sit on the painful "Tiger Bench."
Lens Magazine is a subsidiary of Caijing magazine, an often-daring
financial publication that pushes the boundaries of reporting within
China's censorship.
Stories of torture at Masanjia first came out 13 years ago in media
overseas. In October 2000, overseas rights groups reported that 18
female inmates were stripped naked and forced inside a male prison cell.
They were raped and at least five died. The women were Falun Gong
practitioners.
The abuse of Falun Gong is one key detail the Lens Magazine article
left out—possibly to make sure the article didn't get censored.
Since 1999, the Chinese regime has persecuted the spiritual
practice. In fact, since 2000, this US-based website has released more
than 8,000 articles about torture that took place in Masanjia labor
camp—all directed at Falun Gong practitioners.
[Jia Yuanliang, War Veterans Advocate]
"Now that this is being exposed, it cannot be covered up anymore.
After people found out about it, many expressed strong condemnation
towards Masanjia. China's labor camp system no longer fits the current
society. It should be abolished as soon as possible."
"Walking Out of Masanjia" has so far not been censored on the
Chinese Internet. Some observers believe its publication is a precursor
to a wider exposure of the abuse that goes on in China's labor camps.
YEAH, IT IS PRETTY REAL, HUH?
It is the money and the profit that is going to ensure the complete revival of slavery. We already have absolute animal slavery. And we have enslaved the natural world to do our bidding, well, as best we can. And now, believe it or not, the slippery slope has been reached, and in a few short decades, we are going to be in the midst of the VIGOROUS new-age of SLAVERY.

CHINA PLANS TO REFORM...AND ABOLISH the SLAVE CAMPS!
click here>>>China Plans to Reform One-Child Policy, Abolish Labor Camps<<<IT'S ME AGAIN...
It will be championed by the continued erosion of basic human rights, and the ongoing thirsty quest for labour as cheap as possible, with few, IF any safe guards for the rights of the slaves. The ONLY element at work to protect the slave will be the best possible squeeze of profit from the carcass of the slave. Therefore, the bad treatment of a slave might end up costing more than IF you take a modicum of care of the asset, the stock, the inventory.
Like any bean-counting endeavor, the slave will be subject to the usual market forces that determine when it is more profitable to do something compared to when it is not more profitable.
It is very much a long the lines of Thomas Swift's "A Modest Proposal."
I have included the entire text. It is probably going to take you ten minutes to read the whole thing.

IF you are not in the mood to do some longer reading, that's okay, 'cuz here is an audio presentation for you. Be warned, it is 20 plus minutes long!
A Modest Proposal for preventing the children of poor people in Ireland, from being a burden on their parents or country, and for making them beneficial to the publick.
by Dr. Jonathan Swift; 1729It is a melancholy object to those, who walk through this great town, or travel in the country, when they see the streets, the roads and cabbin-doors crowded with beggars of the female sex, followed by three, four, or six children, all in rags, and importuning every passenger for an alms. These mothers instead of being able to work for their honest livelihood, are forced to employ all their time in stroling to beg sustenance for their helpless infants who, as they grow up, either turn thieves for want of work, or leave their dear native country, to fight for the Pretender in Spain, or sell themselves to the Barbadoes.
But my intention is very far from being confined to provide only for the children of professed beggars: it is of a much greater extent, and shall take in the whole number of infants at a certain age, who are born of parents in effect as little able to support them, as those who demand our charity in the streets.
There is likewise another great advantage in my scheme, that it will prevent those voluntary abortions, and that horrid practice of women murdering their bastard children, alas! too frequent among us, sacrificing the poor innocent babes, I doubt, more to avoid the expence than the shame, which would move tears and pity in the most savage and inhuman breast.
I shall now therefore humbly propose my own thoughts, which I hope will not be liable to the least objection.
I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed, is, at a year old, a most delicious nourishing and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricasie, or a ragoust.
I have reckoned upon a medium, that a child just born will weigh 12 pounds, and in a solar year, if tolerably nursed, encreaseth to 28 pounds. I grant this food will be somewhat dear, and therefore very proper for landlords, who, as they have already devoured most of the parents, seem to have the best title to the children.
I have already computed the charge of nursing a beggar's child (in which list I reckon all cottagers, labourers, and four-fifths of the farmers) to be about two shillings per annum, rags included; and I believe no gentleman would repine to give ten shillings for the carcass of a good fat child, which, as I have said, will make four dishes of excellent nutritive meat, when he hath only some particular friend, or his own family to dine with him. Thus the squire will learn to be a good landlord, and grow popular among his tenants, the mother will have eight shillings neat profit, and be fit for work till she produces another child.
As to our City of Dublin, shambles may be appointed for this purpose, in the most convenient parts of it, and butchers we may be assured will not be wanting; although I rather recommend buying the children alive, and dressing them hot from the knife, as we do roasting pigs.
A very worthy person, a true lover of his country, and whose virtues I highly esteem, was lately pleased, in discoursing on this matter, to offer a refinement upon my scheme. He said, that many gentlemen of this kingdom, having of late destroyed their deer, he conceived that the want of venison might be well supply'd by the bodies of young lads and maidens, not exceeding fourteen years of age, nor under twelve; so great a number of both sexes in every country being now ready to starve for want of work and service: And these to be disposed of by their parents if alive, or otherwise by their nearest relations.
But in order to justify my friend, he confessed, that this expedient was put into his head by the famous Salmanaazor, a native of the island Formosa, who came from thence to London, above twenty years ago, and in conversation told my friend, that in his country, when any young person happened to be put to death, the executioner sold the carcass to persons of quality, as a prime dainty; and that, in his time, the body of a plump girl of fifteen, who was crucified for an attempt to poison the Emperor, was sold to his imperial majesty's prime minister of state, and other great mandarins of the court in joints from the gibbet, at four hundred crowns. Neither indeed can I deny, that if the same use were made of several plump young girls in this town, who without one single groat to their fortunes, cannot stir abroad without a chair, and appear at a play-house and assemblies in foreign fineries which they never will pay for; the kingdom would not be the worse.
Some persons of a desponding spirit are in great concern about that vast number of poor people, who are aged, diseased, or maimed; and I have been desired to employ my thoughts what course may be taken, to ease the nation of so grievous an incumbrance. But I am not in the least pain upon that matter, because it is very well known, that they are every day dying, and rotting, by cold and famine, and filth, and vermin, as fast as can be reasonably expected. And as to the young labourers, they are now in almost as hopeful a condition. They cannot get work, and consequently pine away from want of nourishment, to a degree, that if at any time they are accidentally hired to common labour, they have not strength to perform it, and thus the country and themselves are happily delivered from the evils to come.
I have too long digressed, and therefore shall return to my subject. I think the advantages by the proposal which I have made are obvious and many, as well as of the highest importance. For first, as I have already observed, it would greatly lessen the number of Papists, with whom we are yearly over-run, being the principal breeders of the nation, as well as our most dangerous enemies, and who stay at home on purpose with a design to deliver the kingdom to the Pretender, hoping to take their advantage by the absence of so many good Protestants, who have chosen rather to leave their country, than stay at home and pay tithes against their conscience to an episcopal curate.
Thirdly, Whereas the maintainance of an hundred thousand children, from two years old, and upwards, cannot be computed at less than ten shillings a piece per annum, the nation's stock will be thereby encreased fifty thousand pounds per annum, besides the profit of a new dish, introduced to the tables of all gentlemen of fortune in the kingdom, who have any refinement in taste. And the money will circulate among our selves, the goods being entirely of our own growth and manufacture.
Fourthly, The constant breeders, besides the gain of eight shillings sterling per annum by the sale of their children, will be rid of the charge of maintaining them after the first year.
Sixthly, This would be a great inducement to marriage, which all wise nations have either encouraged by rewards, or enforced by laws and penalties. It would encrease the care and tenderness of mothers towards their children, when they were sure of a settlement for life to the poor babes, provided in some sort by the publick, to their annual profit instead of expence. We should soon see an honest emulation among the married women, which of them could bring the fattest child to the market. Men would become as fond of their wives, during the time of their pregnancy, as they are now of their mares in foal, their cows in calf, or sow when they are ready to farrow; nor offer to beat or kick them (as is too frequent a practice) for fear of a miscarriage.
Supposing that one thousand families in this city, would be constant customers for infants flesh, besides others who might have it at merry meetings, particularly at weddings and christenings, I compute that Dublin would take off annually about twenty thousand carcasses; and the rest of the kingdom (where probably they will be sold somewhat cheaper) the remaining eighty thousand.
After all, I am not so violently bent upon my own opinion, as to reject any offer, proposed by wise men, which shall be found equally innocent, cheap, easy, and effectual. But before something of that kind shall be advanced in contradiction to my scheme, and offering a better, I desire the author or authors will be pleased maturely to consider two points.
I profess, in the sincerity of my heart, that I have not the least personal interest in endeavouring to promote this necessary work, having no other motive than the publick good of my country, by advancing our trade, providing for infants, relieving the poor, and giving some pleasure to the rich. I have no children, by which I can propose to get a single penny; the youngest being nine years old, and my wife past child-bearing.
YES, IT IS ME, AGAIN...
...and what is so very interesting about this text (above)...it was actually taken seriously, as some readers of the time did not realize it was a spoof. Seriously. I know this seems strange and far-fetched, but it is true.Just like many readers of this blog will shake their head and say I have gone too far in predicting the raunchy revival of real-deal slave sales, and all the stuff that goes with it.
There are some stark and persuading reasons why this is going to happen. I am going to cover these in more detail in future blog posts. A few of the compelling forces at work to push "us" into what is happening right now, anyway, but in the full-blown, global form I am predicting:
- GLOBAL SEA LEVEL RISE;
- FUTURE LARGE SCALE DROUGHT;
- REALLY BAD FAMINE;
- INCREASE IN DECREASE OF PERSONAL FREEDOM(S);
- ONGOING STRIP-MINING OF EDUCATION;
- THE RISE OF MARTIAL LAW;
- LEGALIZATION OF ENFORCED "DEBTORS CAMPS;"
- ENFORCED BREEDING AND CHILD REARING FOR PROFIT;
- THE ADVENT OF LARGE SCALE HUMAN CLONING;
So here is my timeline prediction:
By the year 2030 A.D., there will be public-private, corporate slavery. There will be the first real-deal slave trade market. This will become a sophisticated, global talent placement endeavor, featuring complete and total ownership of the slave by the public and or private "interest" that buys, with money, the complete rights to the slave. The slave will have NO rights whatsoever. The slave will be the entire and complete property of the owner.
